As the name suggets this cottage is built on the site of a Roman building. The cottage has just been fully renovated with a beautiful kitchen, dining area and sitting room with open fire. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 which can either be a twin or a king sized bed). There is storage space available for bikes and even a room for muddy boots and wet clothes! Outside the cottage there is a lovely seating area over looking the river Mite and a childrens play area. The valley of Miterdale is a little valley off the side of the much larger Eskdale valley and as such is one of the Lake Districts hidden gems. Which just a few houses on the dead end road the valley is very peaceful with some beautiful woodland and a fantastic walk onto the Screes with amazing views into the Wasdale valley. Despite the quiet location Mite villa is just 10 minutes walk from the local pub and 15 minutes walk to the village shop in Eskdale Green.

The location of the cottage offers great potential for walking either down the River Esk or up into the fells and mountains of the Lake District with Scafell Pike, Englands highest mountain at the head of the valley. There are also plenty of activities for the whole family including the Lar’l Ratty which runs down to the coast and the dunes at Ravenglass, Muncaster Castle Gardens and Owl Centre and Hardknott Roman Fort. Bobbin Mill holiday cottage is based on a working farm in Miterdale, one of the prettiest and least visited valleys in the Lake District. Overlooking the river Mite, this comfortable cottage sleeps up to 5 people but is also very popular with couples. Miterdale, the writer Arthur Ransome's 'hidden valley', has magnificent views of Scafell, England's highest mountain, and branches off from the quiet village of Eskdale, which lies along the valley floor of the River Esk. There are many walks from the front door of Bobbin Mill holiday cottage - along the valley bottom which is fairly flat, or up into the fells and mountains. A favourite walk is over the fells, dropping down into the neighbouring Wasdale valley, with the Wasdale Head Inn at the end of the walk.
