Eskdale Green Holiday Cottages

Smithy Brow, sleeping 4 to 6 people, is a beautiful Lake District cottage in a fabulous location in Eskdale. The cottage is tucked away up a private leafy lane (known locally as Giggle Alley) leading from Eskdale Village up onto the fells overlooking the valley. Smithy Brow Cottage has a lovely feel, the kitchen and dining area is light and airy, this leads into a cosy sitting room, with a traditional wood burner and then a sunny conservatory for enjoying the afternoon and evening sun.

Bankside is a lovely cottage with beautiful gardens and fantastic views of the Lakeland fells. Situated in a prime location in the village of Eskdale, the self catering holiday cottage offers hundreds of walks straight from its front door. The house has retained many original features and comfortably sleeps 7 people. Eskdale is perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding mountains, rivers and lakes. Whether it be mountainous walks up along the top of the Wasdale Screes and over Scafell and Scafell Pike (the Highest mountains in the Lake District) or gentle strolls along the valley bottom or paddling and picnicking in the River Esk, all are easily reached on foot from the village.

Hollowmire is a delightful cottage, sleeping 6 people with lovely gardens and fabulous views over Eskdale Common and Muncaster Fell. Situated in a prime location in Eskdale, the cottage offers loads of walks straight from its front door and is perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding mountains, rivers and lakes. Adventurous hikers can walk up along the top of the Wasdale Screes and over Scafell and Scafell Pike (the Highest mountains in the Lake District) but from the door of the cottage, there are also gentle strolls along the valley bottom.

As the name suggets this cottage is built on the site of a Roman building. The cottage has just been fully renovated with a beautiful kitchen, dining area and sitting room with open fire. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 which can either be a twin or a king sized bed). There is storage space available for bikes and even a room for muddy boots and wet clothes! Outside the cottage there is a lovely seating area over looking the river Mite and a childrens play area. The valley of Miterdale is a little valley off the side of the much larger Eskdale valley and as such is one of the Lake Districts hidden gems. Which just a few houses on the dead end road the valley is very peaceful with some beautiful woodland and a fantastic walk onto the Screes with amazing views into the Wasdale valley. Despite the quiet location Mite villa is just 10 minutes walk from the local pub and 15 minutes walk to the village shop in Eskdale Green.

Hillside is a great family cottage which sleeps 6. The cottage is set in the middle of Eskdale Green in the Western Lake District. This beautiful valley has a quiet feel to it but there is plenty going on with a narrow gague railway, a Roman fort and Muncaster Castle with it’s wonderful gardens and an Owl Centre. The cottage has 3 bedrooms – (1 double and 2 twins) and a lovely sitting room with woodburner and dining area for 6. The cottage has an enviable location just 2 minutes from the village shop and 15 minutes walk to the local pub.

Rockwood is an attractive detached Victorian house situated in an elevated position overlooking Muncaster Fell and the River Mite valley (Lower Eskdale). The property provides self-catering accommodation for up to six people in a village location. The house is warm and comfortable and was recently refurbished to a high standard. The house is set in an acre of terraced gardens with extensive views over the surrounding fells and countryside. Eskdale Green is within easy reach of the many high peaks, beautiful countryside and visitor attractions of the Western Lake District. The village of Eskdale Green has a well-stocked local shop and there are two pubs within easy walking distance as well as many others only a short walk, cycle or drive away.

Yattus is a 5 star, ETC rated, early 17th century cottage nestled on the edge of Eskdale Green village. Our visitors tell us the interior is timeless and peaceful, retaining many features from the 1600's, combined with all the modern conveniences we have come to expect. Accommodation consists of a sitting room with working range, separate dining room with wood burning stove, very well equipped kitchen, walk-in larder, conservatory, shower room, bathroom and 3 bedrooms - 2 doubles and 1 single. Yattus also has a lovely, terraced lakeland garden complete with 'garden play den' filled with toys, beloved by our small visitors on those wet days, and patio area with BBQ for those not-so-wet days! Birkhow holiday cottage is situated in the centre of Eskdale village with stunning views of the Eskdale valley. The village shop is a 5 minute walk away, the Bower House Inn is 10 mins walk. The cottage itself is in beautiful order throughout, offering comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people. The garden faces South. Pets are welcome.

Randlehow Holiday Cottage is tucked away at the end of a quiet access-only lane that houses some of the oldest houses in Eskdale. The house is in fine order throughout and has a large sitting room with an open fire and wooden floor boards. The kitchen is fully equipped and dining is in the garden room. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and one twin. There is a single bedroom downstairs for a seventh person. There is a bathroom with both bath and separate shower, and a second toilet is downstairs. The garden to the back is enclosed and pets are welcome.

Longrigg Green is handy for both the pub and the village shop, there are also hundreds of walks right from the house either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk. The house has a well equipped kitchen which leads to the dining area and the sitting room beyond. Here there is an open fire and widescreen TV with home cinema and DVD player. There is a lovely conservatory with beautiful views. Upstairs are four bedrooms: two doubles, one twin room and one with bunk beds and the bathroom. There is a good size garden on three sides of the house with mature trees, flowerbeds and lawn. A patio leads from the dining area equiped with garden furniture. The garden has magnificent views of the fells and is completely private.

In the heart of the village of Eskdale Green, Muncaster View offers lovely accommodation for 8 in 4 bedrooms. There is plenty of space to eat together around the large dining table then continue the evening in the sitting room with a woodburner to give that cozy feel. If it is a sunny day you can have drinks in the conservatory or out in the garden. The location of the cottage offers great potential for walking either down the River Esk or up into the fells and mountains of the Lake District with Scafell Pike, Englands highest mountain at the head of the valley. There are also plenty of activities for the whole family including the Lar’l Ratty which runs down to the coast and the dunes at Ravenglass, Muncaster Castle Gardens and Owl Centre and Hardknott Roman Fort. Being at the heart of the village means the village shop is just a 2 minute walk away and the local pub just 15 minutes on foot.

The cottage itself is in beautiful order throughout, offering comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people. The accommodation consists of the sitting room with open fire, TV and DVD player, the spacious dinning room with separate kitchen and the snug with comfy chairs and a TV. Upstairs are three bedrooms - one double and two twins, and a family bathroom which has electric shower, toilet and sink. Outside there is a raised and enclosed garden to the side and rear with garden furniture. There is an old workshop to the back of the house available for secure storage of bicycles etc.

Bobbin Mill holiday cottage is based on a working farm in Miterdale, one of the prettiest and least visited valleys in the Lake District. Overlooking the river Mite, this comfortable cottage sleeps up to 5 people but is also very popular with couples. Miterdale, the writer Arthur Ransome's 'hidden valley', has magnificent views of Scafell, England's highest mountain, and branches off from the quiet village of Eskdale, which lies along the valley floor of the River Esk. There are many walks from the front door of Bobbin Mill holiday cottage - along the valley bottom which is fairly flat, or up into the fells and mountains. A favourite walk is over the fells, dropping down into the neighbouring Wasdale valley, with the Wasdale Head Inn at the end of the walk.

Rose holiday cottage is situated in the centre of Eskdale village, with stunning views of the Eskdale valley, one of the most tranquil parts of the Lake District. The cottage itself is in beautiful order throughout, offering comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people. The kitchen at Rose Cottage is large and has a dining area for six. It is lovely and warm with an aga. The sitting room next door is spacious and split into a main area with wood burning stove and a quiet area with an electric stove. There is flat-screen TV which has the full Sky package (sports and films) and DVD player. Upstairs there are three bedrooms - two doubles and a twin. There is also a bathroom which has bath and separate shower. The garden outside is magnificent with mature plants and hidden paths and has a barbeque area overlooking the most wonderful view of the fells.

Cosy 18th Century cottage, which has been modernised to give a high level of comfort, with full central heating and coal/wood burning fires. There is lovely garden. Sleeps 4. Set upon a hill above Eskdale Green, Hollowstones consists of three cottages, two of which sleep four people and one of which sleeps 3 people. All linen is provided and the kitchens are fully equipped with dishwaher, microwave and all sorts of cooking utensils. We have a laundry room with washers and dryers. Brantrake cottage is a 4 star rated 17th century grade II listed farmhouse situated in a secluded and peaceful position a mile from Eskdale green with fells behind and the river Esk in front.
